What you’ll discover

One test, the whole picture

Most tests look at one slice of you. The TMI looks across five layers at once and shows how they work together, so if you only have time for one test, you still come away with a real sense of yourself.

Five layers in one

Your traits, what drives you, your close relationships, your inner world and your work interests, measured together in one sitting.

A TMI type you can share

Your result comes with one of 13 TMI types, plus a streak or a blend when you sit between two. Easy to remember and easy to compare with friends.

Shows you where to go next

Your results suggest the two or three deeper Hypnotechs tests that fit your scores, so you know which one is worth your time next.

Personalized results, not a form letter

Most personality tests give everyone with the same type the same paragraph. Your TMI interpretation is written for your exact scores, including how your standout traits play off each other in daily life.

The test

Take the TMI test

72 questions in five short parts. Most are a quick agree or disagree, and a few ask you to choose or rank. It takes about 12 to 15 minutes, there are no right or wrong answers, and your interpretation appears as soon as you finish. If your top traits are a close call, you may see a few extra questions to sort them out.

What it measures

What the TMI assessment measures

Five layers, measured together. The first one, Wiring, gives you your TMI type, the headline of your results. The other four fill in the details.

Layer one

Wiring

Six core traits: social energy, emotional weather, structure, imagination, regard for others, and candor and humility. This layer gives you your TMI type.

Layer two

Drive

What motivates you most, how much you like to steer, and how much you feel you shape your own life.

Layer three

Connection

How secure you feel with the people close to you, how much closeness you want, and how you show you care.

Layer four

Inner world

How vivid your mind’s eye is, how easily you get absorbed, and a short reading of your suggestion style.

Layer five

Direction

The kind of work that suits you: working with people or with things, and with data or with ideas.

This is a self-reflection tool, not a clinical testThe TMI cannot diagnose any condition or predict how you will do at work or in relationships. Treat it as a starting point for understanding yourself and choosing what to explore next.

Your TMI type

13 TMI types: your temperament in a word

Your type is named after the trait you lean on most. Every trait has two opposite ends, so the types come in pairs. If a second trait is close behind, you get a streak or a blend, and if nothing stands out, you're The All-Rounder.

Your scores

How to read your TMI results

Every scale is scored from 0 to 100, with 50 as the middle. The further a score is from 50, the more it stands out. Your type also tells you how firm it is.

Leaning: 15 to 24 points from the middleClear: 25 to 34 pointsStrong: 35 points or more
Close to the line? When two traits are nearly tied, your result names both as a blend, because a different day could tip you either way. That isn’t a weak result. It’s an honest one.

Where it comes from

What the TMI draws on, and its limits

The TMI is an original Hypnotechs test. Its questions were written for Hypnotechs and are not copied from any published test. The five layers draw on well-studied ideas in personality research: broad traits such as social energy and emotional steadiness, honesty and humility, how secure people feel in close relationships, absorption and mental imagery, and the people-or-things and data-or-ideas split used in career research. The suggestion-style reading is based on Dr. John Kappas’ E&P model of Analytical and Physical suggestibility.

  • It covers a lot of ground quickly. Each scale rests on a handful of questions, so treat single scores as hints. The deeper tests on Hypnotechs go further.
  • It relies on your honesty. It reflects how you see yourself.
  • Scores can shift. Mood, stress and life changes move answers a little, especially near the middle.
  • It will keep improving. The questions are reviewed as results come in and refined over time.
